Summer Handbag Trends 2017
“Mummy, why do you have so many handbags?” my youngest son asked me the other day while I had my head buried in the shoe and handbag war zone that pretends to be the bottom of my wardrobe.
I sat up and looked at the accessory rubble around me and in my mind, there was, and is, only one answer – “Because I’m a woman darling”.
…..and there we have it. The universal answer to why women have so many handbags and accessories.
We don’t need excuses or justifications for it. It’s part of our DNA, our biological code. A code so deeply imbedded in us that I suspect even Eve had several fig leaves to choose from, one for each potential occasion she might find herself in.
So, with any guilt we may have harboured shrugged off our shoulders, safe in the knowledge that we just can’t help it, let’s have a look at what handbag trends this season has to offer.
As usual the Spring/ Summer season is all about florals and for 2017 they have been painted or embroidered onto all shapes and sizes of handbags. From Fendi to Faith there are some beautiful choices:
Nude and pink are having a lot of attention:
I love bright colours so the colour blocking trend has really caught my eye:
The rucksack has emerged from being our gym accessory to every day wear. Metallics, soft hues and textures all look fab:
From the functional tote to the cross-body bag to the saddle bag to the clutch, how to choose our spring/ summer handbag is going to be a difficult choice. But remember we can’t help it so we may as well have them all!
